3D Printing - Using New Applications for Medical Innovation

January 24, 2017, Drs. Chris Dickinson, Glenn Green, and Kyle VanKoevering.
Miracles continue at Michigan Medicine, where the University of Michigan is using 3D printing to aid patients receiving customized medical implants and applications and where 3D printed tracheal splints have also helped to save the lives of infants and young children.

Drs. Chris Dickinson, Glenn Green, and Kyle VanKoevering, from the UM 3D Printing Team, will describe the advanced innovative programs at the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and the VonVoigtlander Women’s Hospital, that serve the residents of Michigan and beyond. Also, by combining a state-of-the-art children’s hospital with a women’s birthing hospital, specialists in surgery, pediatrics, anesthesia, and obstetrics are brought together to help repair congenital conditions while the baby is still in the womb.

What Kind of Presidential Election Is This?

September 20, 2016, Professor Michael Traugott Much of this year's general election, in Michigan and nationally, will be affected by the national race. The 2016 presidential election pits two of the least popular candidates in recent history against each other. The campaign is shaping up to be highly negative, and voter turnout may be low. The two candidates are running quite different campaigns, based upon their relative political experience, and Donald Trump seems to be suffering more from his inexperience. For Hillary Clinton, many observers and strategists are waiting to see if some other shoe drops to tighten the race. Professor Michael Traugott focuses on the current state of the national presidential race, presenting different scenarios for how it will finish.
